Friday night at O'Keefe Gymnasium, the Alumni band was asked to stand-in for the regular GT Volleyball Pep Band, as the full marching band were all on a bus to Florida State for Saturday's football game. On short notice, 16 members of the Alumni Band were able to make it down to Tech and make some music for the Volleybees. Everyone had a great time, and the team was really appreciative. The Alumni Band would like to thank the GT Band for the opportunity, and invite any other Alumni Band members who would like to join us Saturday night, 6:30PM at O'Keefe Gymnasium for another game while the Marching Band performs down in Tallahassee. Go Jackets! |

Hey Band! (Fred!)Hello and welcome to Homecoming 2009! It doesn't seem like a whole year since we all gathered to celebrate the GT Band's 100th Anniversary, but Homecoming is here again! Online registration is now available through the website (http://www.gtbaa.org) and we encourage everyone to spread the word as fast as possible to all of your former classmates you keep in touch with. Also, you can search for our Facebook group (Georgia Tech Band Alumni), and follow us on Twitter. We are a little late opening up registration this year, so please help us get the word out ASAP. GT Band Turns 100! Last year was a big year for both the GT Band and GTBAA. Not only were we able to host the 100th Anniversary celebration in our BIG tent, we were also able to lead successful fundraising efforts through our Century Campaign. Through the generosity of your fellow GT Band Alumni we were able to help fund the GT Band's trip to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We were also able to place GTBAA on solid financial footing and position the organization to help with various funding initiatives going forward. We are evaluating several options right now for future funding initiatives with the GT Band and will be discussing more options at our annual business meeting Homecoming weekend. We also hope to be able to announce some projects at that time. We hope that you consider continued giving to the Century Campaign to allow GTBAA to remain an active supporter of the GT Band for it's second 100 years. Organizational HousekeepingThe organization of GTBAA is made up of a Board of Directors, an Executive Director, and a Secretary Treasurer. Last year we held Board elections, and each of the following were elected for a 2 year term expiring in Fall 2010. This year, we will hold officer elections, for terms expiring Fall 2011. After 6 years as Executive Director and 5 years on the board before that, I am looking forward to simply participating and will not be seeking re-election. Should an existing board member run for an officer position and win, a special election will be held to finish that members term. Please don't hesitate to contact any one of us should you have a question about the organization or how you can help. If you have an interest in a board or officer position, I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. As an organization, we always strive to represent all generations of Band Alumni. Now is a good time to get involved. If you do plan to run for an elected position, as a courtesy I would appreciate it if you would notify me so we can better plan the agenda for the meeting and elections.
